The Great Christmas Pudding Race and All School Social

The Great Christmas Pudding Race and All School Social

The first ever Amersham Christmas Pudding Race takes place in Old Amersham (5 miles from Gt Missenden) at 10am on Sunday 14 December – two days after Gateway breaks up.

It is thought this will provide the perfect backdrop for an end of term parents and pupils social from all year groups (fun runners and non-runners).

The race options!

  1. A gentle around town fun run for all including pushchairs.

  2. A 5km hill race, taking in some of the infamous Amersham highs and low!

  3. To simply support!

Everyone running, walking or rolling (!) will be awarded with a medal and goody bag

What to wear

Fancy dress is optional, but encourage!

Team Gateway

Again optional, but it was thought it would be fun for the Gateway children running to wear their Gateway PE tops with fancy dress so to be easily identified as a team and, you never know, get our photo in the paper or on the news if camera crews arrive!

Meeting Point

There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs in the old town, so once you’ve run off a couple of pounds, the Christmas season can begin!

It would be a nice idea to use The Swan pub as a meeting / eating / drinking point!

Christmas Shopping Opportunities

There is also a wonderful array of independent shops, offering great ideas for Christmas gifts.

Year 1 and 2 parent, Jenny Garrity and proprietor of Coco Marie in the old town, is an event supporter, as is Celebrate Cakes, which regularly donates the “guess the weight of the cake” for the school fairs.

And of course, Father Christmas will be in attendance!

Entry costs and forms

Teams of six adults can enter for £55; adults £10 & children £5.

All proceeds go to SignHealth.org.uk, a national charity that drives to ensure that children and adults with impaired hearing get the healthcare services and information they need.

If you would like to enter as part of a Gateway team, please contact Caroline Garstang Howlett (Henry Yr3) who will co-ordinate.
