Great Missenden Christmas Tree Festival
6th December 2019

The pupils in Year 5 and 6 art clubs were tasked with the mission of creating eye catching Christmas tree decorations to adorn the Gateway School tree in the church in Great Missenden. Based around the Nativity theme, they recycled plastic pots, off cuts of wood and artroom 'leftovers' to produce wonderfully unique and decorative figures. We are very lucky to have some sumptuous fabrics from donated sample books and these were the perfect materials for creating costumes for the wise men and sparkling angels. The children had some great ideas, Zac C added a little sheep to his shepherd, and Mimi created an expectant Mary!
Evan and Carys from the school council accompanied Mr Phil and me as we headed up to the church with boxes full of decorations. The Year 3 and 4 art club had made some excellent paper baubles to add to our tree. Together we chose and decorated the tree which looks splendid in the back of the church. Do go and visit this weekend; it is quite a spectacle with many trees on display representing all the groups and institutions from the local area.
