House General Knowledge Final

House General Knowledge Final

On 30 March the following children competed for their House in this year’s House General Knowledge competition having qualified from a preliminary round open earlier this year.

Barnardo: Oakley D, Marcus H, Lily W, Oliver B (Year 5) Res Ross M

Brunel: Oscar V-B (Year 5), Stan C, Dominic H, Charlie B, Amelia O (absent)

Jenner: Felix P, Cameron W, Harvey C, Abby B, Res Hugh P (Year 5)

Seacole: Jack I, Kieran M, Eleanor W, Henry G (Year 5) Res Timo E

In the Preliminary round Oakley D was the highest scorer (46/50) pipping last year’s winner Jack I by just 1 point. Marcus H also impressed with 44 pts.

Six of the Year 6 children knew what to expect from the PowerPoint slide quiz, having qualified for the finals last year. This time there were 12 rounds of 4 individual questions with each team member answer one question per round. Questions 45-52 were team questions and were worth double points.

Year 5 and 6 children, along with members of staff, made up the audience; all hoping their team would prevail; heaping further pressure on the contestants.

After round 13, Jenner opened up a half point lead over Barnardo. They extended this to 2 points at the halfway stage, from Seacole and Brunel, with Barnardo dropping back.

Jenner hung onto the lead and were a little dazed but delighted to win the Shield. Well done to all the competitors and also to the audience for being so attentive. HJ

Final Result

Jenner 1st 50 pts
Barnardo 2nd 44.5 pts
Brunel and Seacole 3rd 44pts
