House writing competition

House writing competition

Poetry was the genre chosen for this year’s house writing competition with a broad theme of ‘animals’. Children from year one to year six demonstrated their talents for writing with an engaging and eclectic range of poems from favourite animals, robins, turtles, rainforest animals, animals in winter, to animals in captivity and starling murmurations. I thoroughly enjoyed reading them all but found the task of selecting a winner from each year extremely challenging. I asked Mrs Poor for her assistance and together we read, discussed and debated until we had reached our decisions. I will be mounting the winners and displaying them on the house boards near to the photocopier.

Year one winner: Emily G. Highly commended: Mabel and Nathan.

Year two winner: Phoebe W. Highly commended: Freddie and Tuschan.

Year three winner: Rufus. Highly commended: Ivy, Theo, Christopher.

Year four winner: Kitty. Highly commended: Amalie, Joshua.

Year five winner: Ellie. Highly commended: Mimi, Katie, Chloe K

Year six winners: Emily B, Dan. Highly commended: Kirsten, Isla Mg.

Overall house winner was Seacole.
