International Book Giving Day

International Book Giving Day

Bring a book (or two to school)

The aim is to share a love of books and get books into the hands of as many children as possible.

It is a volunteer led initiative, aimed at increasing children’s access to and enthusiasm for books. Most children in developing countries do not own books. Did you know that in the United Kingdom, one-third of children do not own books?

So, at Gateway we would love you help us to support this initiative by allowing your children to bring into school any books that they no longer want (as many as they like) during the next week.

On Thursday 13 February, we will have a book swap morning where children will be able to choose a new book from the donations. We will then send the rest locally, to provide books to children who do not own books in Buckinghamshire. In addition, we will be sending some maths books to Hope House in Kenya (our overseas charity from last year) to help them to improve their mathematics.
