ISA Athletics, Bedford Stadium - Tuesday 17 May

As Year 6 will miss the Stoke Mandeville Athletics Championships this year, due to the French trip, it seemed only fair to send a squad to Bedford to compete in the ISA regionals while Year 5 were visiting Ironbridge.

A squad of 11 children participated against 17 other schools which meant competition was of the highest standard. Several children felt that they should have performed better but the pressure of the day, mingled with a few nerves, meant that outcomes did not always reflect potential.

Many of the squad did do themselves justice and overall the performance and results were very pleasing. Several children grabbed gold and qualified for the National Finals in Birmingham (29th June)! We are still awaiting a full set of results with times, distances and confirmation of those who will compete in Birmingham.

Thanks go to Rushmoor School for organising the event, all the teachers who help coordinate, including our own Miss Lawrance, and all the parents that turn up to cheer on the squad.

A full set of results will be posted on the Sports Board when we receive them.
