ISA National Football Finals - Friday 24 March 2017

Having won the London North regionals the boys were very excited for Friday 24 March. A great start in the first match meant we were 3-0 up at half time. The other team then fought hard to come back to 3-2 where the game finished. Losing the next 2 matches 1-0 was a real blow to the boys after having many a chance to put goals away. Winning the fourth game 3-1 lifted our spirits and going into the 5th group game we knew had to win. After creating so many opportunities and missing the target, we gambled everything in the final minute as a last ditch effort to score. When they hit us on the break to score, it was one blow too far for the boys.

We still however, had the chance to play for the plate. The boys were physically and emotionally drained from the early group games and really struggled to get into the next group stages. A few injuries here and there also didn’t help. The final game was an enjoyable 1-1 draw and the boys left having enjoyed the day and the experience. Another early morning the day after for the Scrummers Cup at Merchant Taylors.
