ISA National Netball 7 a side Tournament at Kingsmead Netball centre, Thursday 20 March

The year 6 A team took part in this competition having been runners up in the regional round. There were 20 teams in the under 11 age group many of whom had travelled from as far afield as Cornwall or Kent, and the standard of play was high throughout.

The competition started with a Round Robin of 4 matches. Our girls found the first 2 Matches daunting, losing both games. They picked themselves up however in the third game by scoring the first goal giving them the confidence they needed. They won this game convincingly. The last of the round robin games was a closely fought match with the lead changing constantly; but we were pipped at the post in the last minute. The team then progressed to the middle competition- the plate competition. This was a knock out section so we had to play well to remain in it. The girls played against a team called Heathfield; this was another closely fought match in which we managed to stay ahead and won 5-3 thus reaching the semi-final. The girls gave their very best in the semis playing well and never giving up until after the final whistle went. Sadly we lost this game 2-5.

All the girls we were exhausted by the end of the day but they should be commended for their perseverance and performance.

The last few weeks have been very full with netball matches and tournaments and all the girls have enjoyed some great competition. Well done to all for their effort and participation.
