Key Stage 2 General Knowledge Championship

Key Stage 2 General Knowledge Championship

Last Friday, a team of 4 children: Shaylen P (Yr 6), Tilly W (Yr 5), Jack I (Yr 4) and Oscar V (Yr 3) travelled to Davenies School, to take part in this National Quiz. There were 11 other teams entered, from 7 Independent Schools, so the competition was fierce!

Questions were wide ranging and very challenging - eg "At nearly 339m high, where is Europe's tallest building". Gateway took an early commanding lead and after 30 questions, went into the second round in second place - supporters were on the edge of their seats! Unfortunately, in the last 10 questions, the points slipped away and we achieved a creditable 4th place.

The team and travelling reserves (Cameron M Yr 6, Simon E Yr 5, Jonty W Yr 4 and Harrison J Yr 3), thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and can be very proud of their achievements. Next year we shall strive to do even better!

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the children involved and also to Mrs Izard and the many parents who made the journey to support our team.
