Pipers Corner Netball Tournaments

Last week was very busy with the U8, U9, U10 and U11 girls playing in the annual Pipers Corner netball tournaments. All tournaments were extremely competitive with a high level of netball being played throughout. Mrs Shaw was very proud of all the girls who made great progress from the first match to the last demonstrating real determination and resilience when faced with tough competition.

U9 High Five Netball tournament at Gayhurst School

Six U9 girls attended the annual high five netball tournament at Gayhurst on Tuesday. The girls were very excited to take part and play in all 5 positions, changing after each match. We made a great start winning against Gayhurst (2) 2-0. However, Mrs Shaw knew that the girls were capable of more and gave them some points to work on as they went into their next matches. They won their next two games against Charlotte House (7-0) and St Bernards (3-1). We were thrilled to get into the semi final against Heatherton House and stayed calm under pressure. The girls worked together to ensure they came forward for the ball and moved into space to receive the next pass. The shooting was on point and they secured another win. Next stop the final. We knew it would be a tough match as we had already played St Bernard's but we went into it with optimism. The girls got off to a great start by scoring in the first 30 seconds. St Bernard's upped their game and marked very closely, making a number of interceptions. This made it difficult for us to keep possession. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be for the U9s and we came 2nd overall but a brilliant performance nonetheless. Well done girls!
