PE Department News
2nd July 2021
What a fantastic day we had for Senior Sports Day on Friday 25th. The rain threatened to stop the event but after so much careful planning to enable parents to be present, we were determined to go ahead with the event. Despite having some guidelines that had to be adhered to, the children, staff and supporters were in excellent spirits and the day was brightened up by the fantastic Athletics that was on show.
Every child from Y3-6 contributed at least four scores to their team’s final total across throwing, jumping and running events. The results came in thick and fast and were announced to each year group at the end of their event before being combined to give an overall Senior Sports Day winner, the winners were as follow:
Year 3: Barnardo
Year 4: Brunel
Year 5: Seacole
Year 6: Brunel
Overall: Seacole
Junior Sports Day
Much like our Senior Sports Day, we had to adapt the Juniors event to enable parents from all year groups to attend. This may have been a blessing in disguise as it led to four fantastically supported and fun events.
We started the morning with Preschool and Reception who were very enthusiastic and made us very proud as they demonstrated their skills to the spectators. Year 1 and Year 2 followed and although their events had a more competitive element to them, they were contested in excellent spirit with the crowd supporting them from start to finish. The winners for Year 1 and Year 2 were as follows:
Year 1: Brunel
Year 2: Barnardo
Overall: Barnardo
Year 3 and Year 4 Cricket v Gayhurst
We concluded our fixtures programme this week with four matches at Gayhurst. The pitches were well manicured and the children enjoyed the experience whilst playing some excellent cricket along the way.
