This final half term of school has seen all the students from Preschool to Year 6 participate in sports days either at Jarman Park or on the school site. It has been wonderful to see the students participating in events such as the long jump, vortex throw and my personal favourite, the dressing up race, with such enthusiasm and commitment. There were many outstanding individual achievements across all of the sports days and the students demonstrated great endeavour and sportsmanship when competing.

We also had our final two House Swimming Galas of the year last week with Years 4 and 5 wrapping up their swimming programmes with some front crawl and back crawl races. All four swim galas were very close affairs and once all the points had been tallied Barnardo and Brunel shared the House Swimming Cup.

As the academic year draws to a close it is nice to reflect on the sporting successes of this year, of which there have been many ( so apologies if I miss any). Our School sports teams have reached National Finals in Boys Football, Girls Football and Netball. A number of students also attend the National Athletics Finals in Manchester and National Cross Country Finals at Worksop College. To reach any National Final is a tremendous achievement and the students who have participated at these Finals should be extremely proud of their achievements. We have also had students selected for the County Cricket Squad and District Football Team. Our U11 Boys football team won their Primary Schools Football League and the U10 and U11 Boys both won the Bruern Abbey football tournament for their respective age groups. We also won numerous team and individual medals at the Chiltern Primary Schools Cross Country League. Moving away from the sports field all the students also worked hard learning and performing both the Christmas Dance and Jubilee Dance.

It has been an excellent year of sport and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve during the next academic year.
