We have a very busy summer term ahead of us at Gateway School. Before we look ahead to this exciting term I want to take everyone back to the final Monday before the Easter break when all the students in Year 3 to Year 6 took part in the Inter-House Cross Country Race. The weather was incredibly kind to us on the day and the course was challenging but in good condition given the weather we had previously had. The students approached the event with great determination and enthusiasm. All the students completed the course and therefore gained points for their respective Houses. There were many outstanding individual performances and it was great to see the students encouraging each other over the finish line once they had finished their own race.

The Year 3 and the Year 4 team races were won by Brunel, Barnardo triumphed in the Year 5 team race and the Year 6 team race was won by Jenner. Once all the points had been collated the overall winners of the Inter-House Cross Country were Brunel.

Now looking ahead to this term we have a full program of cricket fixtures for students in Year 3 to Year 6 and these begin next Wednesday with our U11s travelling to Gayhurst School. In a few weeks time our U11 Girls football team will be competing in the ISFA U11 Girls Cup at Claremont Fan School in Surrey. We also have the ISA Regional Athletics Qualifier taking place in Bedford where students will be aiming to qualify for the ISA National Athletics Finals. Every student from the Pre-School to Year 6 will also participate in their School Sports Day towards the end of this term. I am especially looking forward to the Year 3 to Year 6 students Sports Day which will once again be held at Jarman Park on Friday, the 23rd of June. In PE lessons students are already working on their athletic skills in preparation for these events.
