The end of last half term saw the girls competing in the first House Sports event of the Year, the House Hockey. All four age groups produced some very competitive and exciting matches with a number of outstanding individual and team performances. It was fantastic to see the students putting into practice all the skills they have learned during lessons. Congratulations goes to Brunel who won the Year 3 competition, Seacole the Year 4 and Jenner and Barnardo won the Year 5 competition and Jenner again who triumphed in the Year 6 competitions. Congratulations also go to Seacole who secured the overall victory and were deserving winners of the House Hockey Cup. We are already looking forward to the next House competitions that will be coming up at the end of this term which include House Football, House Rugby and the Santa Dash.

Our busy term of fixtures has continued with the boys performing exceptionally well against a number of very strong Claires Court rugby teams. All the matches were very tough encounters with the Gateway teams producing a number of very encouraging performances. This week the girls have had hockey fixtures against York House and Pipers Corner. On Wednesday the U11 girls travelled to York House to play some indoor hockey matches. They very quickly adapted to the indoor game and produced some outstanding individual and team performances.

Mr Roberts’ quest to complete 3000 push ups in November in order to raise money for Teenager Cancer Research is going well and at the time of writing this he had already completed 1000.

Finally girls in Year 5 and Year 6 I would like to draw your attention to some cricket coaching being run by Nigel Kerry, who is Gateway’s cricket coach and Head Coach at Ballinger Waggoners Cricket Club. If you are interested you can find some more information and details of how to sign up in this week's bulletin.
