Preschool children become confident little learners

Preschool children become confident little learners

Firstly, the Preschool team would like to say a big well done to all the children, especially to those children who have joined the school this term. All the children have settled in beautifully and are becoming confident little learners, exploring our environment. The routine promotes nurturing the children’s independence; it has been wonderful to see the improvement in the children’s ability to put on their own coats, put their folders in their drawers and put all their belongings away. The children confidently say ‘good morning’ to their teachers and have recently enjoyed sharing their photos from home on Tapestry. Xavier was delighted to see the book he had as a bedtime story ‘The Odd Egg’ on the big screen in Preschool. Tapestry is a fantastic way for the children to develop confidence at speaking out in front of a group of children, sharing their experiences.

At Gateway Preschool, the 3 and 4 year olds join in with specialist lessons each week, including French, PE and Music. These lessons have been a great success this half -term. The children are now familiar with these teachers and show excitement towards the lessons. In PE, the children have been learning to move in a variety of ways and practice their balance and coordination skills. It is lovely to hear the children greet both Mr Butler and Miss Gallop when they see them around the school.

In French the children have been introduced to basic vocabulary via simple songs, phrases and words. They have absorbed this new language easily and are often heard singing number songs in French during the day. Learning French in Preschool allows the children solid foundations to build on as they progress through school.

Next term, I’m sure there will be lots of excitement towards celebrating Fireworks, Diwali and Christmas. We will be learning lots of new songs in preparation for the Christmas play.

We would like to thank you for all your support and look forward to a busy festive season after half term.
