Preschool children develop their balance, control and coordination skills

Preschool children have been developing their balance, control and coordination skills through learning a variety of dance routines in preparation for the Christmas play. All the children have been allocated a part and costume slips have been sent out this week. If you have not received one please speak to a member of the Preschool team.

‘The Postman Bear’ story by Julia Donaldson has been brought to life throughout many exciting activities, full of fantastic learning opportunities. Visiting the sorting office at the Post Office was a firm favourite, the children learnt about where the post goes once it has been collected from the post box and the journey of how the post arrives through their front door. Robert the Postman, spent a long time explaining to the children he doesn’t have a pet cat like Postman Pat. Lara suggested he could have a pet dog instead! The children were very lucky to bring back a post bag to use in their role play area. Many party invitations have been written this week, focussing on information that is required and writing for a purpose.

We finished the week with a birthday celebration for ‘Postman Bear.’ The children planned and prepared the party, making their own decorations and setting the party table. It was lovely to hear the children relate to this experience to their own birthday, discussing what month they were born in, their current age and how old they will be on their next birthday.

Thank you for all the wonderful Tapestry posts, please keep posting, the children seek delight in showing their friends what they have been doing at home. We use the posts as a show and tell tool, increasing the children’s confidence at talking in front of their peers.
