Preschool enjoy a spot of gardening
29th March 2019
Preschool have been learning all about the story of Jasper’s Beanstalk this week which has led to lots of discussion around what plants need to grow. Children suggested that water and sunshine were important and were very observant of the tools and processes used in the story. Jenson noticed that a bamboo stick was pictured and knew that this would hold up the growing beanstalk. William P noticed that Jasper climbed the beanstalk at the end of the story. He used his prior knowledge of fairytales to predict that there might be a giant at the top and was very excited at this prospect!
A big thank you to Poppy and Emily’s mums who led a lovely gardening session this week in the Preschool garden. The children explored beans, seeds and the whole process of growing plants. We were so lucky to enjoy such a sunny afternoon where the children could put on their wellies and be really ‘hands on’ in the gardening process. Please do have a look through the lovely photos of this on Tapestry. Hopefully we will start to see some shoots appearing in the coming weeks.
Preschool children have been very busy creating surprises for Mothering Sunday! We hope you like the beautiful cards the children made and fingers crossed, you all get to enjoy a well earned break with a cup of tea and slice of tiffin that the children made for you over the weekend.
With Easter on the horizon, children will be enjoying lots of activities around bunnies, eggs and new beginnings. Next week children will finish off Easter cards and enjoy Easter egg hunts around the Preschool garden. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the term and wish you a very happy, healthy and restful Easter break. We will provide a homework challenge sheet which will give you lots of inspiration of fun activities to complete with your child over the holidays (including cooking sweet treats for the family and finding things around the house and garden that begin with ’e’). We would love to see photos of these activities as you complete them, so do post them on to Tapestry for us.
Happy Easter!
