Preschool hunt for familiar signs and logos

Preschool hunt for familiar signs and logos

Children have been looking for familiar signs and logos in Preschool this week. Using ticksheets and clipboards they searched carefully around the Preschool environment to find signs and familiar logos that we had hidden for them. It was very impressive to see that children already recognise lots of familiar car, toy and shop logos that they see around them day to day. This developing interest can be encouraged at home by looking at shop signs and character logos and asking children what sounds they can see in them. If you find any that your child has recognised, please do add them to Tapestry.

Preschool have been busy creating shape pictures this week as an introduction to 2d shapes. We will continue to explore 2d shapes further next week by playing shape games during group times and having a look to see which shapes we can see in our environment.

Witches and wizards day today has been a great success, with children reading ‘Winnie the Witch’ stories, enjoying some face-painting and creating watermelon and blueberry wands. Thank you for all the effort involved in the children’s witches and wizard costumes; they have all had a wonderful day!

With the weather gradually becoming more autumnal, please ensure that your child has wellies and a waterproof coat to change into. We try to go out in all weathers, so having a change of clothes is very handy too!

Following our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evenings last week, some parents have asked about home learning challenges. Although not compulsory, Preschool homework and bedtime books are available to support and compliment home learning. Both are in the process of being updated; but please do help yourself to the homework challenges we have on offer at the moment. These are stored on the unit just as you come into Preschool, on the left.

Thank you for your continued support and have a lovely weekend!
