Preschool try their best at sports day

A big thank you to all parents who attended Sports Day this week; we hope you enjoyed cheering on the little ones as they competed in all of the activities. The children tried their best at each activity and had lots of fun in the process! By the end, they each had six stickers as a reward for all of their efforts during the sporting event. Thankfully the rain held off for the majority of our sports day and has continued to get better as the week has gone on!

With the heatwave expected to continue, please do ensure that your child has a suitable sunhat, cool clothing and that 12 hour suncream is applied prior to coming to school. We do ensure that children play in shady areas such as the field, when the temperature rises, in order to keep them cool and comfortable. But having a sunhat ensures they stay cool and safe wherever we happen to play.

Children have enjoyed lots of outdoor play as the weather has improved this week; including lots of water play, sand castle building and exploring the field. Children have enjoyed listening to school and friendship stories this week, in preparation for next year. The transition group talked about what qualities are needed to make a good friend. Some children even created friendship cards to say thank you to their peers for playing with them in Preschool. Poppy wisely suggested that although we may not all be together next year, we can always arrange playdates outside of school. This was very reassuring for the other children to hear.

Children have been excitedly talking about next week’s transition day where they will meet their new teacher and visit their new classroom. We look forward to sharing children’s experiences during ‘moving on’ circle time sessions.
