Preschool World Cup celebrations continue
29th June 2018
The World Cup celebrations continued this week at Preschool, with many of our activities linked to this exciting theme. The children really enjoyed talking about last Sunday’s match during circle time and looking at the flag designs of different countries competing. Many of the children have wowed us with their football and world flag knowledge!
After looking at the Brazilian flag, children learnt more about this beautiful country. Children learnt facts about the Amazon Rainforest, the Brazilian climate, key landmarks and traditions. The children have been asking lots of relevant questions and are beginning to notice the differences between England and other countries.
As the weather has been so glorious, we have spent lots of time playing penalty shoot-outs in the garden and tallying up our scores. The children enjoyed helping Miss Brennan to create our own small world football pitch and used lots of creative ideas to make it. Once the pitch was complete with grass, crowds and white lines, we added some Duplo goalkeepers! Then we used straws to blow paper footballs into the goal!
Next week is one filled with different emotions, as the children visit their new classes on Transition Day Tuesday! We have been discussing our feelings and reading lots of stories about new beginnings in Preschool to prepare the children for this exciting time. It would be an idea to have further chats at home with your little one to discuss any little worries or excitement about moving on. Please do chat with us if you have any concerns yourself, we are here to help.
Next week we will also be continuing our preparations for Sports Day! (which is on the 10th July at 9 am). Please ensure that your child has a sunhat and suncream, as the hot weather is set to continue.
If your child has lost any items of clothing, do pop into Preschool, as we have acquired a growing box of lost property over recent weeks! Thank you for your continued support.
