Reception children enjoy looking at various types of books
20th November 2015
We have loved looking at various types of books this week. From hardback and paperback, to fiction and non-fiction books. We have been using a variety of vocabulary including, hardback, paperback, spine, author, characters, content page and index. It would be great if you could reinforce this at home during story times with your child. On Friday, we travelled back in time as part of our Topic and had a look at some toys from the past. Buckinghamshire library service had supplied us with a huge box of old traditional toys. Included in this were items such as a humming top, a yoyo, a set of Jacks and an old Sindy doll. The children had a good investigation of all of the toys and much fun was had by both the children and the teachers! It was lovely to hear that although electronic toys are still the most popular games many of our children still enjoy traditional toys such as rocking horses, jack-in-the-boxes, spinning tops and skipping ropes.
Please can you ensure that your child knows their words for the Christmas production as rehearsals are well under way ready for the big performance on Friday 5th December.
A polite reminder that parent consultations are next week on Tuesday 24th and Thursday 26th November.
