Reception children have fun with number bonds

Number bonds to 10 has been the focus for our children in Reception this week and we have had lots of fun using the 10 frames. Many children already knew some of the number pairs that together make 10, but the 10 frames really got them thinking outside the box! They are a great resource which allows the children to physically pick up each peg to help with their problem solving. The real challenge came when we were given a number sentence with a number missing! Using the 10 frames we were able to solve lots of missing number problems either individually or working together in pairs. This work got us ready and raring for Friday and our ‘school number day’. Thank you to everyone who came dressed wearing either a number, spots or stripes, you all looked super!
