Reception children are inspired by 'Mr Gumpy's Motor Car'
30th September 2016
We hope you enjoy the photo of our trip to Bekonscot Model Village and the children were able to tell you about their fun filled first trip in Reception. The author John Burningham has inspired us this week. ‘Mr Gumpy’s Motor Car’ has provided Reception with many numeracy and English activities. We have sequenced both numbers and parts of the story using both illustrations and text to help us. On Thursday we had the fantastic opportunity for the whole school to get together to celebrate our Harvest Festival and we would like to thank you all for your kind donations. During our Forest School activity on Thursday we used natural materials the children found down on the field to create their own modes of transport. This was closely followed by Science where we looked at parts of a car and what makes it move. The children then looked closely at Mrs Sutton’s car and went on a search for a variety of different parts by matching a photograph to the real thing.
