Reception children take a look at their family trees
3rd March 2017
We have loved looking at your very detailed family trees this week and have enjoyed continuing talking about close and extended family members. We had a whole year group discussion about Harry’s family tree where he had included a photograph of his Great Great Grandmother born in 1855. This prompted a more in depth look at what life was like a long time ago, when everything was black and white! We even talked about Florence Nightingale and why she is still remembered for her kind and considerate actions all those years ago. Our week culminated with our World Book Day celebrations on Friday and we have loved seeing all of the fantastic costumes of different characters from the books illustrated by Axel Scheffler. ‘Room on the broom’ was Reception’s focus book and the children enjoyed a witch, a cat and a dog teaching them throughout the day! This weekend the homework has taken a different format again. Following on from our work on ‘Room on the broom’ please find in your child’s bookbag a selection of activities you can choose from to complete together. There are some really lovely ideas you might like to do 2 or more.
