Reception design their own amazing rockets

Double numbers have been the numeracy focus this week. The children have been learning double numbers up to 10. Through the use of dice rolling, number cards and ICT games on the whiteboard, many children are already remembering lots off by heart. On Tuesday the whole of Reception watched the Wallace and Gromit animation ‘A Grand Day Out’. They were so excited to watch as Wallace designed and built his own rocket to take him into space and have a picnic on the moon with his favourite Wensleydale cheese! The children then used their imaginations and designed their own rockets, labelling the different parts independently and carefully colouring them in. We have had some really super ideas and the intricate designs have been amazing! Xander and Sophie were the first to notice signs of growth in our plant pots on Wednesday and many children are eagerly awaiting to spot their own bean seed growing. A date to put in your diaries is our Summer term trip on Friday 16th June. We are all off to sunny Whipsnade zoo to meet some of the animals, insects and birds. A polite reminder that your child has a form to be completed in their book bag which will be your ‘parent comment’ for the end of year report. This needs to be in by Friday 26th June. Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday for another fun filled week.
