Reception enjoy 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'
23rd September 2016
The children thoroughly enjoyed Roald Dahl day on Tuesday, focussing on the story ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, as many children have heard both the story or seen the original film. We all had great fun tasting white, milk and dark chocolate in our Maths lesson and with the use of a tally chart and a bar graph the children were able to find out the most and least favourite flavour. Mrs Sutton’s class found white chocolate to be the most popular, whereas in Miss Topping’s class the children preferred milk chocolate. At the end of the day, instead of our afternoon snack, the children were excited to engage in the hunt for their very own Golden Ticket! The story ‘Oi! Get off our train’ written by John Burningham has been our story of the week this week and the children worked brilliantly in two teams to sequence illustrations from the book. Excellent teamwork and communication! We finished the week with our first trip in Reception. Bekonscot Model Village has really lent itself to our Topic of Journeys and we enjoyed hunting for various modes of transport and counting the number of trains steaming by!
