Reception enjoy learning about rainforests

Welcome back Reception! We can’t quite believe we are now in the final part of our first year in ‘big school’. What a fun first week back we have had. Our production rehearsals are well under way now and the children have enjoyed standing on a real stage in preparation for the final show! We have been impressed with how many children already know their words but please can we ask you all to keep working on them to really help with pronunciation, clarity and volume! Standing at the end of the garden and getting your child to recite their words to you is always a great idea, especially when it is sunny! Reception have enjoyed using the weighing scales in maths sessions this week and using cubes have weighed various items from around the classroom, although weighing their own toys proved to be a favourite. The children have loved learning about the rainforests this week too. We have looked at books and on the internet at the rainforest environment, animals that might live there and the sounds we would hear if we went there. Can we remind you that we are going on our final trip of the year on Friday 16th June to Whipsnade Zoo. Please can your child bring in a fully disposable packed lunch in a clearly named plastic bag. Their lunch must NOT contain nuts or chocolate. With fingers crossed for a sunny day, your child will need their sunhat which is already at school. However, with our typical English weather, may we ask that your child comes to school with their waterproof coat just in case! Please ensure you also apply suncream before they come into school.
