Reception enjoyed making ice lollies

Woweeeeeee what a scorcher of a week we have had! Reception were very grateful for our Maths lesson this week when learning about capacity, a perfect excuse to make yummy ice lollies and eat them to keep us cool! We talked about the reversible changes happening when the lollies went from a liquid, to a solid and back to a liquid! We started the week talking about our fun trip to Whipsnade Zoo last Friday and looking at photos from our exciting day out. The children loved the Birds of Prey show and the amazing butterfly house, enabling us to continue talking about life cycles as prompted by our end of term production. To carry on our 'Beaches and Seas' topic, the children have really enjoyed talking about their favourite activities when they are on holiday on the beach. Making sand castles, bodyboarding in the sea and eating ice cream to name but a few! Come and see their wonderful independent work on our displays in the classrooms. RES had a visiting child this week and it was wonderful to see how mature and caring the children have been to look after our guest and show her around Gateway School, super star tour guides in the making! Don't forget the summer fun day this weekend, lots of fun and games to be had and we look forward to seeing lots of you there. Fingers crossed the lovely summer sunshine comes out for us on the day!
