Reception focus on money, money, money

Money, money, money has been our focus this week in maths. We have been looking closely at coins and their properties. The children were fantastic at sorting a variety of coins into the correct group, focussing on the shape, size, colour and value. The £2 coins proved to be the most popular due to the shiny centre! At home over the weekend, you might like to look at coins with your child and maybe play a simple shopping game, with round amounts, so that the children can choose the correct coin to pay. Take it in turns to be the shopper and the shopkeeper.
