Reception - Focusing on bees
21st May 2021
What a busy week we have all had! Our main focus has been around bees. We started with our Talk for Writing story ‘The Sleepy bumblebee’. Using picture clues on a class story map we learnt the story off by heart using expression and actions. This allowed us to discuss punctuation such as question marks, exclamation marks and full stops. We drew speech bubbles for different characters and also a question that we would like to ask Mr Bumbleebee. We will be continuing this theme next week where the children will be making changes to the original story by adding new characters and retelling the story independently.
The story inspired the children to design and make their own busy bees using a mixture of different media, make repeating patterns using yellow and black pegs, and learn information about bees and why they are so important. We even had one little boy who bought his own honey in from home!
