Reception learn about 'Growing'

We have loved talking and learning about ‘Growing’ this week in Reception. Despite only being at school for four days we have managed to fit lots into our busy week! On Tuesday we read the story ‘The Tiny Seed’ written by Eric Carle. This gave us lots of food for thought as we then went on to brainstorm all of the things we know plants and seeds need in order to be able to grow. This then led us on to a super discussion about the life cycle of a plant and we have been able to order pictures of the life cycle independently. On Thursday we were lucky enough to plant our very own sunflower seeds and we know that we need to nurture and care for them in order to help them to grow. We can’t wait to see how tall they get! We have also enjoyed looking closely at various different types of seeds and have discussed how they compare. Have you been planting or growing your very own seeds or bulbs at home? We would love to hear all about it by sharing it on Tapestry!
