Reception learn all about Diwali
9th November 2018

This half term is well underway with lots of fun activities this week in Reception. We have thoroughly enjoyed learning lots about Diwali, especially when we had a visit from Mrs Jutla on Tuesday. We looked at beautiful saris, talked about delicious food and family celebrations and Miss Topping and Mrs Brameld had mehndi patterns drawn on their hands with henna. We even had a go at making our own diva lamps out of clay and then decorated them. We heard all about the story of Rama and Sita and Ravanna, the King with 10 heads! Our Christmas play rehearsals are in full swing already and we have been working hard both in the classroom to learn our words and actions and with Mr Mitchener to learn our songs. Keep up the good work at home to learn those words Reception! We were very impressed with the children on Friday when they recited their poem ‘The Toys Playtime’ to Mrs Kemp. We can tell you have been trying so hard both at home as well as at school to learn the poem and used lots of intonation and expression in your voices. Well done!
