Reception - Manners and money
23rd April 2021

The Summer Term has started off well. The children were all excited to be back with their friends and in amongst the hustle and bustle of Reception, all topped off with the glorious sunshine! We started off the week having a recap on school rules and expectations both in the classroom and out in the playground. As always, kind and caring behaviour and gestures have been praised and celebrated. The children have been practising their independent writing focussing on holiday news and the story ‘Whatever Next?’ by Jill Murphy. The story was a lovely link into this half term’s topic ‘Space’. Over the next few weeks we will be learning about the moon, space travel and the solar system, amongst other things. In Maths we have introduced money and coins. We have been learning to recognise the current coins in usage and beginning to learn the value of each coin. Any coin recognition at home would be really beneficial for the children over the next few weeks.
