Reception enjoy making straw rockets for Science day

We have had an ‘out of this world’ experience this week during our English lessons. We started off reading our book of the week ‘Come to tea on Planet Zum Zee!’. This was a fantastic starting point for designing and writing our own alien menus. The children shared their ideas with their partner and we had great fun listening to our peer’s suggestions. Giggles and laughter echoed around the Reception classrooms as the children worked independently to think of some weird and whacky food combinations! Including ‘smelly socks with snail pie, pasta with worms and mint and slug ice creams.’ We then moved onto drawing and labelling our own imaginary aliens.

This Friday the bean diaries will be coming home for you to complete over the holidays. You might like to write a page about where you are putting it and how well it is growing. Please could these be returned to school after the half term break. We will also be sending home your child’s words to learn for the end of year production.

We hope you all have a relaxing and fun half term and enjoy the sunshine!
