Reception - Tiger, bears and dealing with worries

Reception - Tiger, bears and dealing with worries

This week has been a mixture of fun, laughter, kindness and creativity! We have based our activities around the story ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ by Judith Kerr. The children were invited to create their own tiger picture using a range of media. Amazing animals were created using felt tips, tissue paper, paint pens, felt and card. Techniques such as tearing were explored to make the tiger stripes less uniform and more realistic. We even designed dinner plates which we will be using for our restaurant role play activity next week.

In Maths we have been investigating weight and had fun using the scales to weigh a variety of objects. The children have compared weights and ordered 3 objects from heaviest to lightest and used compare bears to match the weight of heavy and light classroom resources.

Throughout the week we have been continuing to focus on the wellbeing of the children in Reception. We have talked about what makes us unique and how it is fun to be different and enjoy a range of things. We have reinforced to all of the children that if you are ever worried about anything then the best way to help with that worry is to talk about how you are feeling.
