Reception - Writing fairy tales, exploring 2d shapes and Mardi Gras
12th February 2021
Despite it being the last week of this half term, we have still been working our socks off in Reception! In English, we have been authors, writing our own fairy tale stories. We have used our knowledge of the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to reinvent our own tales, creating not only a beginning, middle and an end but also the front cover and blurb for our stories too! We embraced the challenge fantastically and have produced incredible work as a result of it.
In Maths, we have been experimenting with and exploring 2D shapes. We have been learning their names and properties, creating shape art and even played a game of 2D shape bingo to round off the week.
In French we have learned about Mardi Gras, created Valentines day masterpieces in art and had a couple of relaxing afternoons completing bird-themed activities in Forest School and putting together calming sensory bottles in topic lessons.
All of the staff in Reception are incredibly proud of how much effort each and every child has put into their learning, not only this week but this entire half term, and we hope all the families have a lovely, restful half term holiday.
