Relay Gala, Dragon School, Oxford - Friday 18 March 2016

Last Friday 5 girls and 5 boys in Year 5 and Year 6 took part in in the regional round of a mixed year Relay Gala at the Dragon School in Oxford.

There were 3 sections to this gala depending on the size of the schools taking part. There were 10 teams taking part in our section which consisted of a 4x 25m medley and a 4 x 25m freestyle relay for each team.

Both the boys and the girls performed their very best in their heats, which were very tough, then we had a break while the officials sorted which teams would go through to the day’s finals. During this time the children were encouraged to dance to the music that was being played and everyone had a great deal of fun.

We had indeed reached the final in 3 of the four relay events. The girls went on to compete in both events coming 4th in the FC and 6th in the Medley. The boys took part in the Medley relay final coming 4th in it.

This gala was great fun and a tremendous experience for our pupils; well done to all of you for your brilliant effort and behaviour. My thanks go to Mrs Chandler for timekeeping for us and to Mr Grosse for his help poolside and driving.
