School Ski Trip

The annual Gateway School Ski Trip took place over the Easter holidays and, once again, proved to be a huge success. For the third year running, 32 children and 5 adults headed to the resort of Sauze d'Oulx, in the Italian Alps, for a week of fun in the snow. Despite a very early start (4am!!) the children arrived at Gateway in high spirits and headed for Gatwick, with a few blurry eyed parents sadly waving their children off but definitely looking forward to heading back to bed! An incident free check in and flight followed and we were in resort by lunchtime, ready to collect our ski gear.

Six fun-packed days of skiing followed and despite the fact that high winds closed some of the chair lifts for a few days, the children were challenged by the variety of runs on offer in the resort. It was agreed by the teaching staff on the trip that, of the four skiing trips that have taken place, the instruction provided by the ski school was the best yet and the children all showed great improvement over the course of the week. They were able to put their new found skills and confidence to use on the last day when all three groups were able to ski 'over the top' to Sestriere.

At the end of the week, exhausted and tanned, the children headed home with a thousand stories to tell their parents. Thanks must go to all the staff involved on the trip and especially Mr Creasy for all his organisation.
