Second Hand Uniform update

Friends of Gateway (FOG) are pleased to update parents with news that the vast majority of donated old style second hand uniform has now left us and will soon be making its way to Ghana to be used by local school children there. 1140 items of clothing have been donated to the Kokrobite Chiltern Centre a fantastic charity which is working to increase the number of children accessing regular education in a coastal town to the west of the capital Accra. The charity, which has links to Buckinghamshire, is delighted to receive the uniform from us and we're equally pleased that it will continue to be used and benefit other children.

In addition last December we also donated the following to two organisations doing brilliant work helping families in need in the UK:

45 of the red winter coats to Wrap Up London

40 rain coats to Aylesbury Vineyard clothing bank

We have kept a small stock of items in the SHU shed, in case anyone needs anything from the old range of uniform between now and July. Please do drop me an email to 2ndhanduniform@gatewaysch.co.uk if you need anything. After July, this will also be moved on and donated.

We do still have all the grey blazers (these were the only items not needed in Ghana) and I am looking for somewhere to either donate or recycle in some way. They are wool and could be used for felting or similar project, if not able to be reused as they are. If anyone knows of something suitable, please feel free to get in touch.

We currently don't have any 2nd hand stock from the new uniform range but we are expecting items to be donated at the end of the summer term and we'll update parents on what's available ahead of the start of the autumn term. If you are looking for particular items, please also check the Friends of Gateway/Gateway School Parents facebook page, as some parents may also sell items on there.

Thank you to all families who donated uniform; we really appreciate the time taken to sort it out, bag it up and bring it into school! And a big thank you as well to Mrs Davies in the office who helped when donations came in.
