Y6 Hockey v Dair House

On Wednesday, the Year 6 girls faced the elements over at Sprinters. Despite the rain, we played two fantastic matches against Dair House and the Gateway Girls showed great skill and sportsmanship throughout. The proof of their hard work was in the results, with one team finishing 8-0 and the other team narrowly missing out on a win by two great goals from the opposition. We are looking forward to our fixtures in the future, and the girls all came away knowing the with strengths in their performance, and areas to improve on in future games.

Y5 Rugby v Gayhurst

All of the Year 5 boys got their first taste of fixtures for this season at Gayhurst on Friday. The ground was solid so it was decided that full contact would not be safe and instead we played 'ruck touch'. This allowed the boys to get into contact in a safer environment and both teams relished the physical side of the game. It was nice to see our teams growing more confident as the games progressed and taking on board the challenges posed by Mr Butler and Mr Hill. There were three wins and one defeat across the four games, as well as lots of areas to improve. The matches left everyone feeling very positive about the rest of the Autumn Term.

U11 boy's football tournament at Butlers Court.

The U11 boy's football team travelled to Butlers Court for a Bucks league tournament that involved five school teams. Gateway started off the tournament against the hosts Butler's Court. In the first half the boy's dominated possession and were able to create some well constructed chances. Unfortunately the opposition were able to score from a counter attack which resulted in an unlucky 1-0 loss. In our second and third game, the boy's gelled very well together and were able to play some very accurate and fast paced interlinking play when passing and attacking. This resulted in Gateway quickly getting the ball from our half into the oppositions box where a number of excellent goals were scored. The two terrific performances resulted in us winning our second game 6-0 and our third game 4-0. In our fourth and final game the boy's were understandably tired due to four back to back fixtures, as a result we lost our fourth game 0-3 in spite of some good defensive work all round. With two wins and eleven goals Gateway finished the tournament in second place., well done!
