U10 Hockey v Pipers Corner - Friday 22 November

It's been a busy few weeks of fixtures for the U10 girls who welcomed Pipers Corner to Sprinters. Once again, the level of competition was very strong but the attitude shown by the girls was excellent. Although we may not have been as experienced as our opponents, the Gateway teams took on board information and challenges set by the teachers. They improved enormously in a very short space of time and as confidence grew we began to achieve more successful outcomes. A good afternoon's work and a lot was learnt.

U9 Hockey v St Theresa's - Tuesday 26 November

Wet! Wet! Wet! The heavens opened at St Theresa's but it did not deter the Y4 girls from giving their all and scoring some excellent goals. All of the girls in the year group had the opportunity to play and showed great determination in very evenly matched games. We managed a mixture of results over the four matches and the teachers were particularly impressed with the improvement shown by the girls this term.

U10 + U11 ISA Rugby tournament - Friday 22 November

Last Friday the U10 & U11 boys rugby team headed to Bedford Rugby Club for the ISA Rugby festival. Both teams had five matches to play against high quality opposition from across the region. In every game Gateway put the opposition under pressure in both attack and defence with determined tackling, defensive play and running. As the tournament progressed the boys grew in confidence and were able to score excellent tries through particularly good offloading and support play. In our last two games the U10's were able to win in a very close contest whilst the U11 narrowly lost out to a strong Rushmoor side. The festival enabled both teams to gain very useful Rugby experience that they can transfer into the rest of the Rugby season this term, well done boys!
