U9 Football v Davenies, Tuesday 5 February

The Year 4 boys travelled to Davenies having had the disappointment of their weekend football festival being cancelled for snow. The boys are constantly being challenged to improve their teamwork and really took these messages on board. Mr Butler's team had a very evenly matched game and had to show defensive resilience as well as good decision making in possession of the ball to close out a very narrow victory. Davenies strength in depth was evident in the game involving Mr Robert's team and they were faced with the challenge of keeping their opponents at bay for long periods of the game. However, the Gateway boys rallied in the second half and replied with two goals of their own.

U11 Netball v York House, Wednesday 6 February

York House brought two strong teams to for an afternoon of netball here at Gateway. All of the girls who were not participating in the ISA Regional Tournament took part and had a really enjoyable afternoon. Although York House were worthy victors in both games there were plenty of positives to be drawn from individual and team performances.

U11 ISA London North Netball Tournament - Wednesday 6 February

Our U11 netball team played in the ISA Netball tournament on Wednesday. It was a big tournament with 21 teams entered from a range of different schools. We got off to a shakey start with the girls letting their nerves get the better of them. There were lots of frantic passes but after a half time team talk things started to look up. The girls started to take their time on the ball and find space. Having a win under our belts gave the girls confidence in their play and went on to win the next 2 matches. We then came up against some difficult opposition which were great at intercepting the over head ball. The girls found it difficult to change there play which led to us losing possession frequently. This resulted in a draw and 3 loses to end the tournament. Even though we didn't get the result we wanted in our final match the girl's play really came together. They played exceptionally well against a very strong team, starting to come forward for the ball and making good solid passes down the court. It was the best I had seen them play throughout which was a great finish to the tournament. Well done to all the girls that took part!
