Sports Day Report - 30 June 2017

A week before Sports Day, the weather forecast predicted an 80% chance of heavy showers on the day. As the days ticked down, the forecast became more positive and there were a few sighs of relief in the PE Department when the sun started to break through the cloud on Friday morning.

Two hundred children participated in the Year 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 competitions, watched by family members and staff.

Sprint finals, 500m, obstacle races and team relays challenged the children resulting in some stunning performances, throughout the day, particularly in the sprints and 500m races.

Since April, all of the children have also been competing in field events, back at school and these points were added to the junior and senior events to provide the final totals.

After 72 track and field events, the final totals were comparatively close but it was Jenner who triumphed by just 7pts from Seacole. Felix P and Isabel M stepped forward to collect the cup on behalf of Jenner to the cheers of their peers! Well done to all the competitors for making this such an enjoyable event to watch.
