U11 B & C Hockey v York House - Wednesday 2 November 2016

The U11 B & C girls Hockey team played against York House on Wednesday afternoon. The B team started the matches off well, keeping possession of the ball and creating scoring opportunities. The girls started to relax into the game and with that came the goals. At half time the score was 2-0 to Gateway. The girls were very positive during the half time talk and started off the game in good spirits. They played exceptionally well as a team looking to pass to one another and dribble when space allowed. This helped create scoring opportunities and there were some excellent goals from Lucy and Lily. The score ended with a fantastic win of 6-1.

It was now the C team’s turn to take on York House. For most of the players it was their first match. They got off to a shakey start with York House going up 2-0 fairly quickly. They didn’t let that put them off and they came back fighting. The girls showed some excellent defending and strong tackles. It was a tough match and both teams fought hard to keep possession. Unfortunately, the match ended with a loss of 4-2 but it was an excellent effort by the team and especially Abby B who scored the goals for Gateway.
