U11 Girls 7-aside South Bucks tournament - Tuesday 18 October 2016

The tournament at Great Missenden School was to find the girls’ team that would go through to the county finals on November 12th. The girls were buzzing with energy as we arrived and were quickly out on the pitch warming up. As with all tournaments there is always speculation as to who will be the strongest team we will face. Any nerves were quickly hidden as we faced the host team and Abi H put the ball in the net to see us go 1-0 up. In the second half she put another past the keeper to finish the game 2-0. With the first game won our confidence was high.

Going into the second game against Woodside our confidence was high and this showed as we gained the ball time after time pushing into their half, peppering the goal with attack after attack. The keeper was formidable and would not let our girls score and the game ended 0-0.

Our final game against Holmer Green would be tricky. They beat us in the previous tournament so the Gateway girls had a score to settle. In a fairly even first half we were unlucky to go 1-0 down and by half time our heads had dropped. A quick team talk and the girls were back on track and attacking hard. We were rewarded with yet another goal from Abi to see us draw 1-1 and win the tournament.

The girls will be in the regional final on the 12th November.

Well done to all that played.
