U11 Mixed Netball Tournament at Chiltern Hills Academy - Saturday 18 March
24th March 2017
On Saturday 18th March two mixed Gateway teams attended a High Five Netball Tournament at The Chiltern Hills Academy. There were 25 teams from the local area there and the winners would go on to represent South Bucks in the School Games Final at Stoke Mandeville in July. It was a fun tournament for the boys and girls as after every match they had to rotate positions meaning that everyone played out of position at some point.
Both teams got off to an excellent start with impressive wins in the group stage. It was great to see the team working so well together to move the ball down the court. Each and every player worked their socks off to ensure we won every game.
As both teams came won their initial group they both went on to play in the winning group where another round robin took place. Both teams were excited that they were going to be playing against each other and myself and Mrs Nickell knew we were in for a competitive match. The first team had won all of their matches up until playing the other Gateway team. It was neck and neck throughout with neither team giving up but the first team just pulled away towards the end and managed to get the win. The second team then faced Heatherton House which again was a tough match but unfortunately Heatherton stole the win in the end.
The first team were very pleased to have won all of their matches and go home undefeated. They have qualified for the School Games Final at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. The second team also did exceptionally well and were very pleased to have come in the top 3 out of 25 schools. A very impressive performance from the boys and girls. Well done Gateway!!
