U11 Rugby v St Bernard’s
8th November 2019

On Wednesday, two U11 boys rugby teams travelled the short distance to Sprinters to play a game each against St Bernard's School. In the first game played, the boys were able to play a fast flowing game with accurate passing and offloading, in spite of slippery conditions. This enabled Gateway to stretch the opposition’s defence and exploit the space that was out wide on the pitch. As a result, the boys were able to run into gaps and score six excellent tries both in the wider channels and through the centre of the pitch. In our second game, Gateway were put under pressure from the start due to good attacking play by St Bernard's. In spite of this, the boys showed great resilience and teamwork throughout the game in both defence and attack. With a number of strong runs when carrying the ball, Gateway were able to score four excellent tries to overturn the oppositions lead. It was a great afternoon of rugby with fantastic performances from all the boys involved in both teams.
