U11 Super 8 Hardball Cricket Tournament - Saturday 9 June 2018

On Saturday 9th June, Gateway participated in the inaugural U11 Super 8 Hardball Cricket Tournament at Thorpe House. The weather conditions were overcast in the early part of the day but some tremendous cricket from the boys brightened the mood and we overcame Dair House and St Bernard's in the first two matches.

Our final game could not have been any closer against a Thorpe House side who had also been victorious in their first two matches. Gateway opened the batting and after a couple of late wickets it appeared that the hosts might run away with victory but the boys showed great character and forced a tense finish, eventually going down by a single run.

Over the course of the day there was some excellent cricket on display but most pleasing was seeing the boys working together to deal with problems, their support for one another and eventually their graciousness in defeat. It really was an excellent morning of high quality cricket, well done boys.

ISA National Triathlon - Wednesday 13 June 2018

On Wednesday, 20 boys and girls ranging from Year 4-6 made the long journey to Herefordshire to participate in the ISA National Triathlon Competition. Some of the Gateway children were more experienced than others but after familiarising themselves with the course, everyone was ready to go. The course was long and undulating making completion alone a real achievement. All of the Gateway pupils did that with flying colours and being at the finish line was the perfect spot to witness their determined finishes. A special mention should go to Katie A who finished in the bronze medal position but everyone taking part should be proud of their performance. Well done team Gateway!
