Year 1 get to grips with shapes in Maths
15th November 2019

We started the week by showing respect during our Remembrance service on Monday. The year 1 children honoured the silence beautifully and were in awe of the last post when it was played live on the trumpet. We have been getting to grips with shape during Maths, learning the names of some more complex 2d shapes such as hexagon and octogon. We have learnt to identify the properties of square based pyramids and cuboids when studying 3d shapes. In English we have continued our study of writing in the past tense and have enjoyed the story “Funnybones” which has inspired our writing. In ICT we are using the app Book Creator and learning to alter the font, its size and colour. Finally, we have begun rehearsing our Christmas Play, please could you ensure the children have learnt their lines by Monday so that we can start working on our run throughs.
