Where Every Child is Celebrated

Situated in the heart of the Chiltern hills in the beautiful village of Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, Gateway School is a co-educational, independent day school for children aged two to eleven, ISI rated ‘excellent’ in all areas. At Gateway School, education is not just about academic success; it is about building a foundation that gives each child the confidence and skills they need to be the best they can be.

Our children leave us as competent and confident individuals, with a secure sense of who they are and are well-equipped to take on their next challenges.

Community

In the Heart of Everyone

We believe that a strong community connection enriches the educational experience and promotes a supportive network for children, parents, and staff alike. Our community oriented initiatives are designed to involve parents actively in the learning process and to strengthen the partnership between home and school.

Leavers' Destinations

Children at Gateway School undertake exams for the Buckinghamshire Grammar School transfer test and local Independent Schools. We are proud that the majority of pupils receive offers from their preferred senior school. This high success rate is attributed to the academic journey and the positive partnerships between parents and staff, in identifying the schools that holistically best fit the children

Our Stories
✨ Victory, Rations & RAF Nurses ✨ 🧳 Yesterday we stepped back in time for a fabulous VE Day celebration – and what a day it was! 🖼️ From real ration books, identity cards, and vintage WWII photos in Miss Morrison’s family archive. Pupils imagined life as evacuees and packed their “emergency suitcases” – top items included: a teddy 🧸, blanket 🛏️, family photo 🖼️… and headphones 🎧 (because even in the 1940s, a bit of quiet was golden!). ✈️ We were especially lucky to welcome one of our amazing parents – a real-life RAF nurse – who inspired us with stories from the front line and fascinating facts about the Armed Forces. Did you know? The RAF is the world’s oldest independent air force, formed in 1918! 🎶 The day ended in true 1940s style with a whole school VE Day picnic – complete with music, dancing, and plenty of jam sandwiches! 🥪 ❤️ A day full of learning, laughter, and a real sense of gratitude. #VEDayCelebration #HistoryInAction #LifeAtGateway #ProudToRemember #RAFInspiration #CreativeCurriculum #LittleHistorians #SchoolLife #WeWillRememberThem #ASPIRE #TheGatewayToYourFuture
